In 1981, the Sikh militants hijacked an Indian aeroplane which was carrying 111 passengers and was going to New Delhi from Jammu. The hijackers had forced pilot and other staff to divert direction of aeroplane to Lahore (Pakistan), these Sikh militants were struggling for a separate country "KHALISTAN", and this aeroplane hijack was a part of their plan to force Indian government to release their Sikh prisoners which were jailed in India.
The Indian government asked Pakistan government to help them in releasing of all 111 passengers, the Pakistani government immediately set up a small squad of SSG (Special services Group) of Pakistan Army. In a very faster and quicker operation all militants were arrested and identified as Satnam, Karan Singh, Gajendar Singh, Tejinder and Jasmir Singh. Indian government appreciated the Pakistani act and thanked them.
The Day when Sikhs started the Khalistan movement the Indian government is accusing Pakistani intelligence agency ISI (Inter-services Intelligence) for helping and funding Sikh militants to form Khalistan, but ISI strongly denied all time. In 1977 when Zia-Ul-Haq (Former Army Chief of Pakistan) imposed martial law in Country, Indian government started saying that Zia is giving unusual hospitality to Sikh pilgrims.

In early 80s the Khalistan movement became very active, in 1984 Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi ordered Indian police to Kill all Sikh
militants which were hiding in Golden temple, on 1 June 1984 Indian Police launch full attack on Golden temple, there were 200 militants in it and police was 10k+. From 1 to 10 june 150 militants got killed and 492 civilians got died and Golden temple was fully destroyed which was later built by Sikh community in India. The Sikhs all over the world remember 4th June as their massacre or genocide day.
Khalistan movement in Present era
On Nov 28 2016 the Chairman of Khalistan liberation force "HARMINDER SINGH MINTOO" escaped from jail in an attack on jail in "DARJEELING". The attackers were Sikh militants said by Police spokesman.

In September 2016 the Sikh militants killed RSS leader Gagneja in Punjab and Shiv sena leader Durga prasad. The Sikh and Muslims in India says that RSS and Shiv sena stop them from performing their religious prayers. The breakout in Darjeeling and these killing of Hindu leaders by Khalistani militants clearly says that Khalistan movement is reviving in India and Indian government failed to control it.
NOTE: Sikh is the only religion in world which don't have their separate country in world.
